This is not an Amaro, it's an Amarone!

An intriguing legend

During a tasting of a Recioto ‘Scapà’ (literally that had ‘escaped fermentative control’), apparently a phrase was exclaimed that later became famous: “This is not an Amaro, it’s an Amarone!”
(not a Bitter wine but a Big Bitter one). Those involved in this historic exchange of jokes were cellarman Adelino Lucchese and the president of the Cantina, Gaetano Dall’Ora. The episode which apparently took place within the walls of the beautiful Villa Novare, has been handed down from generation to generation for almost a century, fuelling the fascination around a legend with an aptly romantic flavour.

THE GRAPES FROM VALPOLICELLA

Corvina is our grape, the core of a constellation of native grape varieties that we have helped rediscover and enhance. For Amarone, we like to combine Corvina with Corvinone and Rondinella.

CREATIVITY IN ACTION

Amarone is a wine that never ceases to fascinate us. It represents a dynamic world of variables and of creative possibilities. It demands the flair, skilled competence and complicity of a multitude multitude of professionals, in the vineyard as well as in the winery.

NATURE, TECHNIQUE AND ART IN A WINE THAT REQUIRES TIME AND THAT OBLIGES YOU TO WAIT

Amarone is the only wine, among the great Italian reds, that comes from two harvests: the first in the vineyard, the second in the drying facility, at the end of one of the most emotively charged moments in the entire winegrowing area, such is the delicacy and extraordinary nature of the process of Appassimento.

This is followed by ageing, that is, the evolution of the wine in large oak barrels, which is the type of wood we prefer for our wines.

FOR US IT IS A CREATIVE ACT AND A PERPETUAL WINEMAKING CHALLENGE, WHICH WE WANT TO CONTINUE TO REPRESENT AND WHICH WE WILL NEVER TIRE OF SHARING
